Sarracenia

Les Sarracenia sont un genre de plantes carnivores fascinantes, originaires des tourbières du sud-est de l'Amérique du Nord. On les surnomme "plantes à pichet" en raison de la forme de leurs pièges, qui sont en réalité des feuilles modifiées en forme d'urne.

Ces pièges fonctionnent comme de véritables puits mortels pour les insectes. Attirés par des couleurs vives et un nectar sucré, les insectes glissent sur les parois lisses de l'urne et tombent au fond, où un liquide acide et des enzymes les digèrent.

Les Sarracenia sont des plantes vivaces très appréciées pour leur élégance et leur diversité. Certaines espèces ont des pièges élancés, d'autres sont plus compactes et trapues, avec une palette de couleurs allant du vert pur au jaune, rouge, pourpre et blanc. Elles sont relativement faciles à cultiver pour les amateurs, à condition de leur offrir les conditions idéales : un sol acide et pauvre, un arrosage constant avec de l'eau non calcaire, et surtout, un maximum de soleil.
