Dionaea

Dionaea muscipula, plus connue sous le nom de "Dionée attrape-mouche" ou "Vénus attrape-mouche", est sans doute la plante carnivore la plus célèbre au monde. Originaire des tourbières humides de Caroline du Nord et de Caroline du Sud, elle est facilement reconnaissable à ses pièges en forme de mâchoires.

Chaque piège se compose de deux lobes articulés, bordés de cils rigides. À l'intérieur, de petits poils sensoriels détectent la présence d'une proie. Si un insecte les touche à deux reprises en moins de 20 secondes, le piège se referme instantanément en quelques dixièmes de seconde. Les cils s'entrecroisent, empêchant l'évasion. La digestion peut alors commencer, pouvant durer plusieurs jours.

 

La Dionée est une plante vivace qui nécessite une période de dormance hivernale pour survivre. Elle est assez facile à cultiver en pot, à condition de lui fournir beaucoup de soleil, de l'eau de pluie ou déminéralisée en permanence et un sol acide.

Miroslav Srba selected and registered on 15-10-2007. This clone a very strong similarity with Dionaea 'sawtooth', but completely red, the teeth are small, redrawn the way a saw. The plant remains prostrate throughout the year and it turns completely red very dark situations sunny.

Dionaea 'akai ryu'

This form was isolated by Ron Gagliardo the Atlanta Botanical Garden and the registrant icps in 1998. The color varies according to the exposure, it is green and burgundy in winter and takes a burgundy color if exposed to direct sunlight in summer. Its leaves are prostrate in winter and erect in summer.
